Kybella is a non-surgical injectable for reducing moderate to severe fat on the upper neck, otherwise known as a "double chin". The injection contains a naturally occurring molecule which eats away at fat.
Kybella works by using a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, Kybella destroys fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin.
The number of treatments varies from patient to patient. Your healthcare specialist will determine how many treatment sessions you need based on the amount and distribution of your submental fat and your personal treatment goals. Typically, patients receive between 2-6 treatments.
The most common side effects are swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness, and areas of hardness in the treatment area. These are not all of the possible side effects of Kybella
Results from Kybella are typically seen after 2 to 4 treatment sessions. Each Kybella treatment session is given at least 1 month apart, and you should not receive more than 6 treatments.
As with any injection, there can be discomfort during the procedure. Your healthcare provider may apply a topical numbing cream or use ice packs to help manage any pain or discomfort.
Once the desired aesthetic response is achieved with Kybella, re-treatment is not expected as Kybella causes the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat.
A good candidate for Kybella is an adult with moderate to severe fat beneath the chin. Patients should have realistic expectations and be in good health.
Currently, Kybella is only approved for the treatment of fat beneath the chin. It has not been tested or approved for use on other areas of the body.
Recovery time is typically minimal. Most patients experience some swelling, bruising, or numbness under the chin, but these side effects typically subside in a week or two
Recovery time after a Pico Laser Tattoo Removal session is typically minimal. Some redness, swelling, and minor blistering may occur, but these side effects usually subside within a few days. It is important to follow the aftercare instructions provided by your practitioner to ensure proper healing and minimize the risk of complications.
